I lay in bed this morning carefully outlining today’s blog post in my head.  It would be about the book trailer that finally got finished on Tuesday, and that I am going to start promoting today and release publicly tomorrow, blah blah blah…

Then, I sat down at my computer and the world exploded into a rainbow of joy and love.

Here in California, Proposition 8, the law that denied marriage equality to same sex couples, and the heinous Defense of Marriage Act, which denied federal protection to legally married same-sex couples, have been struck down by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Regular readers of this blog know exactly where I stand in all of this (stand, march, organize, fundraise, write, direct, produce…).  Just one week ago, I came out of the closet as a straight ally, and I’m thrilled that California and the U.S. have finally joined my team.

I cannot stop crying tears of joy!

This was my Facebook post today:
As I see all the posts celebrating today’s victories, I am reminded that my life is filled with WARRIORS!! Sure, there are people all over the Internet celebrating that good was done today, but I rub shoulders with the people who MADE IT HAPPEN! Who have been working for nearly five years to ensure that everywhere — the courts, the ballot box, the dinner tables, the classrooms and workplaces — that love and equality rule the day. You people rock, and the world is better with you in it! ♥ ♥ ♥

I am surrounded by Warriors.  Today, we dance our victory celebration.
Tomorrow, we go back to the front lines.
California done.  37 states to go…

  1. Isn’t it the most wonderful news? Some things are just so silly to hold on to, and I am glad we are moving in the right direction! Oh happy day it is!
