It’s interesting how social media has changed the demographics of my circle of acquaintance.  Somehow, through Facebook, I am “friends” with my niece’s friends, who are all 25 years younger than I am.  That is so cool!

One young woman, my niece’s friend Alyson, recently posted: “There are some people who won’t be as happy on the best day of their life as I am today.”

How awesome is that?  A twenty-something college student who is still trying to figure out a lot of things in life has decided to choose happiness, regardless of what else is going on.  I have never even met this woman, but I am incredibly proud of her.  I know (from her posts) that she is looking for a job, struggling a bit financially, and still making the most of every situation.  I see “YOLO” appear on a lot of her posts.  (If you don’t get it, use the Google.)

And her attitude doesn’t just end with the above.  Here are some of may favorite recent posts from her:

I don’t know you, Alyson, but I love you.  You are going to go very, very far in this world.

  1. Alyson’s latest Facebook update:
Back when I had a twitter, I tweeted for the national park service’s 96th birthday that I wanted to celebrate by getting drunk and climbing a mountain.

I just found out the National Park Service retweeted it.

Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Could make me happier than that knowledge.
